Let’s face it: Even though we try our best not to, we all
have judged strangers based on their appearances.
Whether it’s because of their clothes, hairstyle, or just
the expression on their face, the way people look definitely affects the
impression we have of them…even though many times, that impression is totally
wrong. To highlight the importance of never judging a book by its cover,
Coca-Cola Middle East came out with an ad for Ramadan that will touch your
heart.
They sat six strangers in a dark room, had them speak about
their interests, and then asked the others to make guesses about how they
looked. Then, they turned the lights on and shocked everyone. We see so many
examples of broken stereotypes every day, it’s a wonder we still judge people
for how they look. For example, no one believed that this 500-pound man would
be able to sing, but he proved them wrong as soon as he sang the first note!
The participants in this experiment got their own beautiful dose of reality
when they saw who they were talking to as well.
These people would have probably never been friends if they
met on the street, but they all got along just fine! Just like this singing
grandma who still has a ton of sass, all of these people are reminders that our
personalities are as diverse as our appearances. Even though this ad was
created for Ramadan, people of any race, background, or religion can take this
awesome message and apply it to their daily lives. How incredible it would be
to live in a world without stereotypes!

friends and spread the love around!
